Charles Brown: Driftin’ Blues (Video)

Blues, R&B and Jazz singer/pianist Charles Brown (1922-1999), topped the charts with “Merry Christmas Baby” receiving a Gold Disc for selling over one million copies. He was a major influence for such performers as Ray Charles, Percy Mayfield & others. He received 4 Grammy Award Nominations and was inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame in 1999 and the Blues Hall of Fame in 1996. These concert performances were recorded in 1980 for international television, one of the first ever recorded in stereo. It features his hit, Driftin’ Blues and a tender version of Billy Joel’s Just the Way You Are.
